Prayer

“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.” James 5:17

This verse from James’ letter to the early church encapsulates the mission of TWE’s prayer ministry. The great men and women of the Bible had struggles just like we do. They shared our faults, our weaknesses, and our inclinations to sin. Despite our sins, God is pleased to work through the prayers of His children here on earth. Through Christ, we have access to the throne room of God. (Hebrews 4:16) Our prayers even rise like incense before God’s throne! (Revelation 8:4)

In the Gospel according to John, we have these words from Jesus: “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (16:24)

With this promise in mind, let us pray!

June 2017 Prayer List

TWE  Praise and Prayer List

June 2017

  • Praise God for an incredible turnout of TWE women for the Women’s Conference in the Cities in early May!  Almost 25 ladies attended and there were many stories of connection, refreshment, fun, and spiritual up-building.
  • Praise God also for a small group of ladies who met with Donna in early June to begin discussing and praying about how to expand and advance women’s ministry at our church.  Pray that a strong women’s ministry team would be birthed from this group and that much good fruit and many blessings would flow from it.
  • Along these same lines, praise God for the new mother’s group that Becky and Heidi will be starting this summer.  Pray that as the ladies and their kiddos gather in the parks of Duluth this summer that deep connections would be made, encouragement given, and relationships fostered.
  • Praise God for Ieasha’s new baby Cyrus who was born May 24th! Praise God that mom and baby did great.  Pray for blessings on Ieasha and her family as they transition.
  • Praise God for all our TWE graduates who include: Anna Norman, Lexi Peterson, Ann Brennan, Julia Ketola, Zach Emerson, Wes Kallberg, and Jake Kallberg.  May the Lord bless them, protect them, and draw them close as they head into this next exciting phase in their lives.
  • Praise God for the 24 folks who attended our spring membership class, for the 9 who are immediately moving forward with membership now, and for the many who are considering moving forward in the near future.  Pray a blessing upon the new members and for wisdom and guidance for the rest.
  • Praise God for a good Discipleship Group leaders meeting in mid-May and for the possibility of starting two new DG’s this fall.  Pray for strong and willing leaders to emerge,  for healthy cores to be formed, and for all the logistics that accompany the starting of new small groups to be worked out.  Pray too that as fall approaches many at TWE who are not currently in DG’s would join.
  • Pray also for the special summer DG that Josh and Kerri Lyn will be leading.  May this group be a great blessing to all who participate.

  • Pray for wisdom and Holy Spirit guidance as we look at the possibility of buying a building.  Pray for wisdom on how to best utilize and maximize the space that we are currently in in the meantime.
  • Pray that our new believers in Christ would grow to maturity, that our mature believers in Christ would be well cared for and continue to grow, and that those who don’t yet know the Lord at our church and in our lives would come to know Him in and through us.
