Upcoming Events

Please contact us if you have questions or need further information about any of the following events.

Special Business Meeting - We will be having a special business meeting Sunday, March 21st at 8:30 a.m. to discuss and vote on Sharon Krause's appointment as administrative assistant at The Water's Edge.  We would like all regular attenders to be there.  Prayer will follow.

First Anniversary Events - March 15th, 2010 will mark TWE's first anniversary! We will celebrate God's great faithfulness with the following events...

  • 30 Days of Praise and Prayer - Beginning February 12th, one person will write up and send out (via e-mail) a story of how God has worked in their lives through the church in order to fuel our prayers of thanksgiving.  This will continue for 30 days.  If you would like to submit a story or be included on the e-mail list that receives them, let us know!
  • 30 Hours of Prayer - Not only do we want to praise the Lord in prayer for His abundant goodness to us this past year, but we also want to ask Him for His continued blessing in the year to come.  Beginning at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13th and running through our Sunday morning, March 14th prayer hour (8:30 to 9:30 a.m.), we will do just that.  Come once, come twice, stay for 30 minutes or for 3 hours.  Our hope is to have at least 3 people praying continuously for our church for the entire time.  Let us know if you want join us!
  • BAPTISM SERVICE!!! - We've been praying for a year now that God would draw 30 people to Himself through our people by March 15th, 2010.  If God has done a saving work in your life, and you want to publicly proclaim it through baptism, please let us know!   We can think of no better way to celebrate our one year anniversary than with a baptism service Sunday morning March 14th at 10 a.m.
  • Praise and Testimony Service - We will dedicate our entire Sunday morning service on March 21st to hearing the stories of God's goodness at The Water's Edge this past year.  Our hope is to have as many people share as possible, so stories will need to be kept short (3 minutes or less).   Be thinking in advance about what you want to share!
  • Report Back Service - Finally, on Sunday evening, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m. we have been invited by our mother church Mount of Olives Baptist to come and share what God has done with them. Don't miss this opportunity to bring glory to God and to encourage our mother who has been such a support to us!

Holy Week Events

  • Good Friday Service - At 7 p.m. on Friday evening, April 2nd, we will gather to remember, consider, and thank Jesus for His death on the cross 2,000 year ago on our behalf.  We hope you can join us for this very important time.  Childcare is available.
  • Easter Sunday Celebration!!! - Join us Sunday morning April 4th to celebrate Jesus' resurrection!  The celebration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and will be followed by a worship service at 10:00 a.m.  The morning prayer hour and lunch will be canceled.

Business Meeting - All regular attenders are encouraged to join us from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 11th for our quarterly business meeting.  Get an update on how TWE is doing financially, hear about who and what we plan to support with our "bucket fund" money (the 15% we have budgeted for local outreach, church planting, and world missions), and much, much, more!

Meet David Ronoh! - For those of you haven't met David, it's high time you did! David came to the U.S. from Kenya two years ago to go to college. He currently attends LSC. Come hear the amazing story of David's life in Kenya and how God brought him to the U.S. and see pictures from his recent trip home. David will be sharing at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 11th at TWE. Fellowship and refreshments will follow, childcare will be available through age 5, and a free will offering will be taken to help with remaining trip costs. You won't want to miss this!

New Comer's Dessert - If you're new to The Water's Edge or have been coming for a while but never attended a new comer's dessert, we hope you'll join us Tuesday, April 27th at 7 p.m.  Pastor Erik will present the history, mission, and vision of the church, let you know how you can get involved, and answer your questions.  Childcare will be available for all ages.

Men's Church League Basketball - The Water's Edge will have two teams in a church basketball league at the Encounter in downtown Duluth this winter (201 E. 1st St.).  Games are Tuesday nights at 6 and 7 p.m.  The Encounter has a great balcony for fans to sit in and an excellent concession stand as well.   Bring the kids and come on down!

Youth Bible Study – John chose to record only 7 of Jesus’ miracles in his Gospel. Why did he choose these? What are we supposed to learn from each one? This 9-week study will involve lots of discussion and is for youth ages 9 and up. Sharon Krause and Leah Richter will lead it from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays nights during ministry group off weeks (see calendar for exact dates). We will meet in the students’ homes on a rotating basis.  The study begins December 9th.  See church calendar for dates and locations.  If you would like to get involved, host, or need more information, let us know!

Full Hour of Prayer Begins! - As many of you know we have been using half of our 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning prayer meetings for doing church business.  Because the ministry groups have now started and we are moving to a new provisional leadership structure, we will now be able to use the entire hour for prayer!  We are very much looking forward to making the most of this precious time, and we hope that you can join us!  Nursery is provided as well as a children's prayer class for ages 3 and up.  Older kids have the option of attending the children's class or joining the adults.

Help Needed!!! - As many of you know, God has blessed The Water's Edge with lots of young children.  In order to serve both them and their parents on Sunday mornings we also need lots of adults to help out.  If you would be willing to assist in one of the nurseries or in our 1st - 5th grade class, once every 4 to 6 weeks during the service, please let Pastor Erik know right away.  We could really use everyone's help!

Ministry Groups - Ministry groups are small groups of 6 to 12 adults designed to encourage and equip you to minister at home, at church, and out in the community and thereby advance God's Kingdom by growing in Christ yourself and by helping others to do the same. These small groups, along with our extended Sunday mornings, are the foundational structures of our church.   Pastor Erik preached a four week series on our vision for ministry groups in October, and the first groups began in November.  If you would like to join one, or have any questions, please let us know!
